Fortiche at the Senate: standing up for animation excellence

French Senate Commission of Culture hearing on the animation industry crisis featuring representatives from Fortiche Production, Xilam, and animation studios.

The current landscape of the animation industry is certainly a challenge! Between shifting trends and new ways of watching content, our industry is finding its footing in a changing landscape.

But at Fortiche, we don’t just sit back. On January 7th, Hervé Dupont headed to the Senate to join a collective conversation: “Animation: The Challenges of a Sector of Excellence.”

Standing up for animation

Alongside industry figures like Samuel Kaminka (AnimFrance) and Marc du Pontavice (Xilam), our CEO, Hervé Dupont, shared our vision of today’s stakes. The goal of this meeting was clear: alert public authorities to the vital need to protect the French “cultural exception”.

Key takeaways from the discussion

  • Supporting original creation: In a cautious market, it is vital to maintain strong investments for bold, diverse and creatively ambitious stories.
  • Protecting Cinema: We are campaigning for a support fund dedicated specifically to animated cinema, ensuring our artistic freedom doesn’t rely solely on audiovisual broadcast flows.
  • Sizing up the impact of AI as it reshapes our industry and  the future of its crafts.
  • Investing in the next generation: The focus is on valuing the top-tier courses that train the incredible talents of tomorrow (the ones who join our ranks!)

Eyes on the horizon of animation

Despite these challenges, Hervé closed the session on a note of pride and optimism:

“The French animation industry possesses assets that give it the chance to be the one best positioned to emerge from this global crisis.”
