Fortiche: Can you tell us about your career?

I followed a 3D school course after a 2-year computer science management degree which reinforced my idea of working with a computer. Then I went into ISART DIGITAL school through an entrance examination, followed by a VFX training (Visual Effects) which allowed me to obtain a 5-year diploma.

I started in small advertising companies, then Mikros Animation, TeamTo, CGEV (Compagnie Générale des Effets Visuels : General Company of Visual Effects), Illumation Mac Guff where I had the opportunity to work on Sing, Moi moche et méchant 3 and Secret life of pets 2. After that, I arrived at Fortiche.

F: Why did you choose this career path?

I chose this path after seeing the movie Jurassic Park for the first time. I remember that moment vividly, in front of my television. It left a big impression on my childhood and created in me some sort of jolt.

The music, framing, direction, visual effects... Everything made me understand that I wanted to work in the film industry. As I grew up, I discovered that it was possible to make a living from it.

F: How long have you been working with Fortiche?

I have been working at Fortiche since 2017. I saw a recruitment ad on LinkedIn for a Hair artist position on a project at Fortiche. I applied and then discovered during the interview that it was about League of Legends universe. As a big player of the game, I was very motivated to work on this project.

F: What is your role on the project or at Fortiche?

My role is to simulate all the clothing, hair, and fur parts.

We also created what we call “setups”. These are scenes that prepare the character for the simulation so that it goes well.

F: What is your best memory at Fortiche or do you have an anecdote to share with us?

The best memory for me is from the pilot when we were still in the early stages. I remember working on a shot with Powder and Vi who were chatting on Piltover’s roofs.

The only instruction on this shot was to add wind to the hair, so I had a free hand to do something in terms of wind dynamics.

I was configuring some settings to get a natural wind movement in the hair when Christian Linke, the showrunner, comes up behind me and sees my blast (preview of my simulation) and says "ohhh pretty nice simulation, that's really cool stuff".

I'm really glad about that and it's this simulation that was kept in episode 1.
