Fortiche: Can you tell us about your career?

In 2001, I graduated in 'Graphic Design and Audio-Visuals' (St-Lucas, Boxtel, the Netherlands), and in 2006 in 'Animation' (HKU, Utrecht, the Netherlands).

I loved the audio-visual aspect within animation and found myself quickly sticking around in the Digital Compositing field, where I could melt the work of all other departments alongside my own input to make the image more beautiful, "glossier".

In 2007 I moved to France and worked on a multitude of 2D animated projects, from graphics and publicities to series and feature films, in different roles within their Digital Compositing department.

F: Why did you choose this career path?

Back then, the Netherlands didn't have a lot of productions going on and France had always been a big player in the animation world. It seemed a natural choice to move to Paris in the end.

F: How long have you been working with Fortiche ?

At Fortiche, I started in March 2021 where I met the entire Digital Compositing team.

Coming from a 2D background, and suddenly finding yourself in a full 3D CG production process can be very intimidating.

My Compositing colleagues proved to be very open-hearted and welcoming. They were very helpful in my transition to this new environment, in teaching knowledge as well as sharing workloads.

Arcane Season 1 was a fantastic experience for me, and I am honored to work alongside them.

If I have to describe the Compositing department and its artists in some way, I'd say: professionalism, with a healthy “joie de vivre” element attached to it.

F: What is your role on the project or at Fortiche?

For Arcane season 1, I worked as a Digital Compositor.

After returning for season 2, I am currently working on the 'special sequences' where my work will consist of integrating all typical Fortiche styled elements in combination with new graphical approaches.

F: What is your best memory at Fortiche or do you have an anecdote to share with us?

Where to start, there are so many!

From the 'eating together on the terrasse in the sun', and the 'foosball table tournaments' to the 'huge Fortiche parties' that have been thrown.

For me, the work atmosphere in general is very nice, so working with the 'Compositing Team' is my best memory. Fortiche is a production company that seems to be able to create a great work environment with a focus on the comfort of all artists.
